Shall He Be Forgiven?

A man that executes his best friend in order to save him from an angry mob, should be forgiven. In order to keep him from suffering, he kills him painlessly. He was not selfish, because he thought of his friend first before himself. Like in the book Of Mice and Men, George had killed Lenny because the mob of men were going to make him suffer, and in the end kill him. He knew that the best way was to just shoot him, because it was better that way than making him feel the pain.
