DentaStix Advertisement

Advertisements are used and made to influence consumers to buy their products. Many of the ads are serious, humorous, or even make you stop and think. In the DentaStix ad that I have selected, it had purpose and tone to catch the audiences attention.
The DentaStix advertisement includes a cage containing a yellow bird lying on top of a swing and a hound dog standing right next to the cage with its mouth wide open. The tone is evident in the image by the hilarity of the bird after smelling the hideous stench of the dogs breathe. Lying on top of the swing, the bird was clearly grossed out from the smell. The yellow bird had passed out because the hound dog had not used their product, and its breath was not very pleasing.
Another expository tone of this image can be evident int he image from the facial expressions and body languages of the two subjects. The second tone would be silly, and by the looks of the image, you can see why. The birds expression seems to be dead. a cartoonish dead to be exact, and its body language is very overly dramatic. It just lays there with its wings hanging from the side of the body and its mouth gagging for air. Although the dog is just standing there, its facial expression tell that it was clearly breathing into the yellow bird, and was embarrassed by the smell.

The DentaStix advertisement was very simple, yet funny. It showed obvious evidence of the tone and purpose and this ad was very humorous.
